The end result was a red varsity jacket that implemented touches of who Cano is an artist. The back of the jacket portrayed King Kong and the Empire State building, a nod to his album “Nata Kong,” as well as a pattern inspired by the singer’s tattoos. At the time, the factory was a leather manufacturer for several large American brands. This meant the Baez family had no input as to what they made. This arrangement often confused and frustrated the young creative, who longed to see the Baez name on the clothes they produced. But in the meantime, she said, Swift wearing the original feels like the "ultimate karma" against shops that have stolen her work — something Swift herself is deeply familiar with.

When you design with length, have in mind that often you need to make a few extra adjustments. For example, the width of the leg on the pattern that you are modifying might not look well with the new length. When changing the width of the pants legs, follow this rule – what you take from the inseam, you take from the outseam. That way you keep the grainline straight and the legs won’t twist when you sew them. This rule also applies if you add instead of taking inches from the leg’s width. Around 20% of Americans purchased customized apparel in 2016.

Free Circle Skirt Pattern

The diameter of the skirt would be 2×26” divided to 3.14 which when rounded equals 16.5”. Just add the same little marks starting from the waistline you just drafted (picture 3) and then join the marks together to form the skirt (picture 4). Read the detailed written instructions on how to draft a circle skirt. Checkout this post about How to hem with a sewing machine or 16 ways to hand hem. The real circle skirt is a full one piece doughnut shaped fabric shaped into a full-skirt. If you prefer a clean finish, hem the bottom edge of your skirt.

Now that we’ve gone through the basics, we can get to the other versions of circle skirts you can make. The A-B radius calculation is 1/2 waist measurement divided by 3,14 times 2. "I'm very excited for this course. I have been making basic circle skirts for years and am bored with them and would like to change them up." All of these features make circle skirts perfect for all belly dancers. Use of seam and hem allowances

Are you looking for the perfect circle skirt pattern? You’ll need just a square of fabric, elastic for the waistband, and bias tape for a neat hem finish. No need for a pattern; household items like pizza pans can act as your guide.

We will continue using the new Payhip web store to distribute our patterns. This pattern is easily adjustable to lengthen or shorten the skirt. The corners of the square become an uneven hem, which is quite nice in a soft, fluid fabric. My example is for someone with a 27" waist, and the skirt will be 28" long.

Project of the Day

Emphasize comfort and style in your child’s wardrobe with this lovely, easy-to-wear piece. Use a standard jersey or rib jersey fabric to create one. The easiest way to apply an elastic waistband is with a circle skirt made of knit fabric. Please keep in mind, that the calculated results do NOT include side seam allowances, waist seam allowances, or hem allowances.

Sewing Skills for Fun & Business

Embrace your inner seamstress and start stitching today for a fabulous addition to your wardrobe. After cutting the fabric, unfold it to reveal the circle skirt shape. Sew a narrow hem along the outer edge of the skirt, either by folding the fabric edge over twice and sewing or using a rolled hem foot attachment. To create a waistband, either cut a waistband from a coordinating fabric or use elastic. If using fabric, measure the waist circumference and add seam allowances to create a waistband that will comfortably fit around your waist. Sew the waistband to the waist opening of the skirt, right sides together, ensuring you evenly distribute any gathers if using a non-stretch fabric.

You’ll learn to sew a professional-looking waistband, insert a zipper, and finish the hem to your desired length. The tutorial is designed to help you make a stylish statement with minimal effort, ensuring a delightful addition to your wardrobe. Get ready to elevate your sewing skills and add a custom, elegant touch to your outfit rotation.

So it’s up to you to choose which is the easiest way to draft a pattern for this type of skirt. However, the pattern is useful for some transformations, as you’ll see after. This half has to be divided into to pieces in order to make separate FRONT and BACK pattern pieces. The quarter circle skirt has the smallest fullness and has almost no flounce as is made of a small portion of the circle.

Lake Homes For Sale and Lake Houses For Sale

lake house

Families flock to the towns around Silver Lake and Island Lake to profit from their calm waters and tranquil surroundings. Evolve estimates that a home in the area will bring in, on average, $33,500 a year, with an initial investment of about $425,000, which is the median listing home price. So, no wonder lakefront properties are an increasingly popular real estate investment. That's why vacation rental company Evolve put together a list of the best places to buy a lake house in 2023. In addition to houses in Los Angeles, there were also 1577 condos, 323 townhouses, and 1153 multi-family units for sale in Los Angeles last month.

Rental Resources

The two people come to love each other, and this process involves the movie's second impossibility. Alex’s narcissistic father, respected architect Simon Wyler, is hospitalized and dies. Kate finds a book of photos of Simon’s work which hasn't been published in Alex’s time that includes a photo of Simon and Alex as a little boy at the lake house.

Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia

You can expect to earn about $30,000 in rental income, which means a cap rate of 4%. They both leave their letters in the mailbox beside the sidewalk that leads to the bridge that leads to the glass house. The mailbox eventually gets into the act by raising and lowering its own little red flag.

Lake Lifestyles

lake house

New Yorkers love the serenity and sheer beauty of the Pocono Lake area and all the year-round outdoor activities it offers (skiing, hiking, and fishing, to name a few). So, if you have your eyes on the region, you can count on a steady stream of urban renters seeking a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city (the area is about a two-hour drive from Manhattan). Dallas residents love escaping to Granbury for its historic character and outdoor activities, many of them on the water, thanks to Lake Granbury and Brazos River. Keep reading to find 12 of the best places to buy a lake house in the U.S. Our Lake Homes Lifestyles magazine and blog provide insights into Lake living, tips for buying, and best practices for selling your Lake property. New articles are provided here weekly, and our printed magazine is distributed annually in markets nationwide.

Add to that Virginia's low property taxes and the region's natural draw with vacationers, and investing in the Smith Mountain Lake area makes plenty of sense. Branson is a magnet for vacationers of all ages, with many family-friendly activities in the area, including theme parks, live entertainment, and hundreds of miles of scenic shoreline, courtesy of Table Rock Lake. With a relatively low median home value — just over $232,000 — the destination is an excellent option for first-time investors seeking an affordable property with good rental potential — almost $20,000 a year, according to Evolve. "When determining the best places to buy a lake house, we look at destinations that have advantages for both potential investors and future guests," Louis Olds, director of real estate at Evolve, told Travel + Leisure. While having lunch in Daley Plaza on Valentine’s Day, 2006, Kate witnesses a man get hit by a car and tries but fails to save him.

The lake offers renters a cooling respite from the hot Arizona sun, along with a wealth of water activities and sandy beaches. Notoriously scenic, the northern part of the Ozarks is home to epic fall foliage, beautiful small towns, and an endless list of recreational opportunities. The lake buzzes with boats during the summer, while golf courses are packed with players. The off-season brings travelers seeking tranquility, stunning lakefront views, and fewer crowds.

In addition to the listings on each Lake, you will find information on the Lakes we service and the lifestyles that are created by the surrounding Lake communities. We operate in multiple states (wholly owned, no franchising) and are powered by our unique real estate resources and listings here at LakeHomes.com.

The abundance of recreational activities available in the dozens of small towns here is excellent news for potential investors. Evolve experts note the average cap rate for lake houses in the region is around 5%, with median rental revenue slightly over $27,000. According to the company, lakefront cabins and homes with decks, fire pits, and grills perform better than any other rental property type.

At the lake house, Kate is distraught with grief that she failed to save Alex and collapses to her knees at the mailbox. Dubbed the "jewel of the San Bernardino National Forest," Big Bear Lake is a four-season lake destination that treats visitors to gorgeous views, rugged nature, excellent ski facilities, hiking trails, historic sites, and much more. The Brainerd Lakes area sits in the heart of Minnesota and is home to some of the state's most scenic lakes (when your nickname is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," that says something about the region). Water sports and fishing are favorite pastimes here, but with seven championship golf courses, so is golfing. Drawing visitors from three states (California, Arizona, and Nevada), Lake Havasu City is a four-season destination set against the dramatic backdrop of the Mojave Desert.

But Evolve experts recommend hiring an experienced real estate agent familiar with the HOA rules and regulations in this area. Regardless of which side of the lake versus ocean debate you fall on, you can't argue with the fact that the former provides a year-round reprieve from our busy lives, along with an endless supply of water sports, idyllic views, and cool breezes. And with approximately 480,000 lakes dotting the continental U.S., chances are there's a natural or man-made option a quick drive from your home. Evolve's data shows that median home values here are a little less than $345,000, with a cap rate of 4.3%. The company's experts recommend searching for a property in Gravois Mills, Osage Beach, and Lake Ozark to maximize your rental income.

In the winter, skiers and snowboarders flock to Gunstock Mountain Resort to enjoy its 49 trails and 227 skiable acres. All information is deemed reliable but not guaranteed accurate. The scenes where Kate and Morgan go to Henry's office, and Kate's dramatic exit down the stairs, were filmed at the Chicago Architecture Foundation. The scene where Henry and Alex talk on the street after being in their father's office was filmed on the 400 block of South Michigan Ave, in front of the Fine Arts Building and the Auditorium Theater. The scene where Kate gets stood-up is in Millennium Park at the Park Grill.

A new report reveals the best places to buy a lake house in the U.S., complete with scenic views, a laid-back lifestyle, and excellent rental potential. On Valentine’s Day, 2006 for Alex, he recalls Kate’s mentioning Daley Plaza and hurries to the lake house to retrieve their letters. Meanwhile, Kate and Morgan meet with Henry, who they hired to design a house they bought together. When Kate asks about a drawing of the lake house displayed in Henry’s office, Henry says the artist was his brother, Alex.

According to Evolve data, properties are booked for more than six months out of the year, so owners can expect to add $28,305 to their yearly income. Of course, if you're hoping to make more, invest in a house with direct water access, but also be prepared to pay more than the median listing price, which is $394,776 for the area. While Virginia is home to Lake Anna, which can make investors close to $80,000 in annual income, lakefront homes in the area have unicorn status, and if they do come along, they feature a hefty price tag. Instead, consider Smith Mountain Lake, which boasts a 500-mile shoreline (more than double that of Lake Anna), with waterfront houses in the $500,000 to $1 million range. While that likely still sounds like a lot, you're looking at more than $33,000 of yearly income.

The second exam section is the Concentration section, divided into Part C. This section challenges students to develop a cohesive work centered around a specific theme or concept. Students are required to submit 12 digital images that exemplify their exploration and development of this theme. Alongside the images, a written statement is required to explain the conceptual framework and artistic intentions behind the concentration.

Skills You'll Learn

Although this guide does not perfectly align to the current CED, it remains a helpful resource for teaching AP Art and Design. You’ll submit 15 images, some of which may show details and process documentation. Images can include fully resolved works and forms as well as sketches, models, plans, and diagrams.

AP Art and Design Exhibit

Your work in your art portfolio makes up the entirety of your AP score for each of these courses. You will work with your teacher or AP coordinator to upload the digital images of your work and commentary online. AP 3-D Art and Design is a three-dimensional (3-D) art course that holds many similarities to the 2-D course. The course deals with 3-D artistic applications such as metalworking, sculpture, computer models, and ceramics. Like AP Studio Art 2D, the focus is on the design of the artwork itself as opposed to its composition. This is the deadline for AP Art and Design students to submit their portfolio components to the AP Program through the AP Digital Portfolio.

Each of the three skill categories encompasses a range of skills, covering foundational to advanced learning throughout the duration of the course. Students are required to cultivate, practice, and apply these skills in various contexts. All AP Art and Design portfolios follow a two-section structure where you will demonstrate foundational knowledge and a range of understanding of visual methods. Each section is graded on a 5-point scale and contributes to the final portfolio score.

What to Pack for an Alaska Cruise Alaska Cruise Packing List Must-Have Items

what to pack alaska cruise

Even putting them into plastic bags and squishing out the excess air, I won’t bring them with me. Get tunic tops for Alaska with enough room in the arms so you can wear a layer or two underneath. That’s another reason why I love my tunic crew-neck tops – they’re great for layering.

Westbronco Belt Bag

For starters, they come from a tried and trusted brand, and are made from a reliable, breathable, waterproof, and windproof fabric that is both rip-resistant and Bluesign-approved. These pants can be worn on their own or slipped on over leggings or jeans. The elastic waist and ankle cuffs are both adjustable, and there are three zippered pockets and a hook for hanging to quickly drip dry after a wet hike.

Other Items For Your Cruise Packing List:

While you can purchase packages once onboard, the cost may be significantly higher than what you could have booked ahead of time. Plus, because you can cancel add-ons for a full refund up to 48 hours before your sailing, you have flexibility in case you change your mind on these purchases later on. Planning to book cruise add-ons like drink and specialty dining packages? One must-do before you board an Alaska cruise in 2024 is to pre-purchase these add-ons. In 2022, for example, I booked the cheapest Alaska cruise I could find on Radiance of the Seas.

Alaska Cruise Packing Guide

Depending on the month you sail to Alaska, the temperatures and rainfall can vary, which will affect what clothing you should bring. However, since Alaska weather is unpredictable, you should always pack rain gear and warm clothing to layer. This can make it a challenge, even for experienced cruisers. Whether you’re doing an Inside Passage, North or Southbound Alaska cruise, you’ll want to prepared for the weather with the right clothing and gear.

Make no doubt, phone cameras have gotten pretty good these days. However, we’d prefer to bring along a traditional camera like this one. After all, if you are going to one of the most picturesque places on Earth, it makes sense to bring a camera — not a phone.

Monopod for Camera

Fairtrade certified and no doubt a high-quality item, this vest is still more than double the price of the full fleece jacket. Make sure to choose something you know you’ll wear throughout your cruise and not just for one day. The gloves have a small loop for hanging to dry or attaching to a belt or pack.

If you have not done so yet, we recommend booking flights as soon as possible. The last thing you want to happen is have your dream excursion sell out, leaving you scrambling to find other plans. Plus, excursions tend to only get more expensive over time, so booking early helps you lock in a lower price.

What to Pack for an Alaska Cruise (clothing, gear & essentials)

Reusable luggage tag holders will save your time and aggravation. Add extra storage space to your cabin by using super strong magnet hooks on your cabin walls (they’re usually metal). A insulated coffee mug is a great item to bring on your Alaska cruise.

Swimsuit for the Ship

If you already have a camera, think about bringing a zoom lens. To capture close-up images of the glaciers, wildlife foraging along the shore and on and on. If you don’t have a camera or the one you have is really old, this cruise is a good time to invest in a new one. An Alaska cruise is really an unforgettable experience and you will want to preserve those precious memories.

Aside from all of your clothes, don’t forget to bring some of your favorite accessories, including jewelry, an evening bag, hair accessories, and evening shoes. For outdoor excursions, we recommend packing a pair of wicking socks, which will keep your feet dry while you’re busy hiking or running outside. A portable charger is useful for full-day trips where you might burn through your cellphone battery. You don't have to pack for an Alaska cruise as if you are going camping, but it's important to bring the appropriate amount of adventure and travel gear.

After all, most people only get one chance to sail to Alaska… you don’t want to make a mistake on your pictures. Plus, this can also double as a walking stick on your adventures. So many people skip having a traditional camera and instead just use their phone (including us!).

While fantasizing about the taste of fresh-caught Alaska halibut or daydreaming about the glory of the great glaciers, many travelers wonder what to pack for an Alaska cruise. The items you choose to bring can make your dreams an even better reality. You should include everything from clothing and weather coverage — like a raincoat and sunscreen — to accessories and equipment that will complement your every adventure.

An Alaska cruise from Seattle will visit the Inside Passage but tends to favor the open (and frequently bumpier) Pacific Ocean. Sailings from Vancouver tend to traverse more of the Inside Passage and spend a full day sailing this scenic region. An Alaska cruise costs anywhere from $500 to $8,000 or more during high season. Cheaper fares can be usually found on mainstream lines like Royal Caribbean and NCL, while Cunard, Disney and Seabourn will be more expensive. If you are cruising in Alaska during the Northern Lights season, note that the Gulf of Alaska is choppiest in September and not recommended for travelers who get seasick.

They can scrunch up and fit into your pocket if you get too warm. So in addition to one or two thinner dressy scarves, bring that neutral colored pashmina. I’ve even used it to cover my legs on a particularly cold and windy whale watching tour. Instead, I found and will bring two lighter-weight knit crew neck sweaters. I’ll almost always wear the silky mock turtleneck underneath. I have two cozy turtleneck sweaters that I really love but are way too bulky so they stay home.

Look for one with multiple compartments or pockets so you can easily store all of those small items you’ll need during your excursions. One with a water-resistant rain cover is also a good option in case you find yourself caught in some unexpected rain. Bathing SuitA bathing suit is essential for any cruise, regardless of destination. Whether you’re looking to lounge on the deck or take a dip in the pool or hot tub onboard, you’ll want to be prepared and make sure it’s on your packing list for Alaska. It’s also good to have if you plan on doing any water activities such as fishing, kayaking, or paddleboarding so you don’t get your everyday wear wet.

Your high seas hero Carnival Valor is here to rescue you from ordinary vacations and whisk you away to leisure, fun… and amazing destinations. Not surprisingly, summer is a hot time to visit Cozumel and the Caribbean on a cruise from New Orleans. Humidity is usually very high during the summer months, making for sticky, uncomfortable conditions. For a more pleasant experience, consider a cruise from November through May before the heat and humidity rise to high levels. Beware, though, that hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. Hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico generally occur less often than in the Atlantic Ocean, but they do still occur and can affect travel plans.

And despite the growth of tourism in recent years, the island and its only town, San Miguel, retain much of their original warmth and charm. Our cruise special offers are an irresistible opportunity to lift your spirits and sail off into the sunset. Climb aboard the Islander for a 4-night journey to Isla Cozumel and discover one of Mexico's richest tourist destinations, sailing starting June 2024 from $299 per person. The growing Royal Village Shopping Center sits right across the street from the International Pier.

It's said that when religious temples were dedicated to her, she sent her favorite bird -- the swallow -- as a sign of her gratitude. For this reason, the people called the island "Cuzamil" -- Mayan for "Land of the Swallows." Several important Mayan sites, such as San Gervasio and El Cedral, populate the island. Even better preserved ones are on the accessible mainland; Chichen Itza and Tulum are hot spots for daytrips and shore excursions. Three cruise lines offer cruises to Belize from New Orleans.

For great deals and guaranteed stores, walk along the waterfront on Avenue Rafael E. Melgar, a mile-long strip in San Miguel. And be sure to check out the Chile Tequila Factory for a sampling of Mexico’s favorite spirit. Reconnect with nature while wandering the endless mangroves, beaches and reefs in Punta Sur National Park during your Cozumel cruise.

They're prevalent, and drivers won't always yield to pedestrians. As you should when visiting any city, leave unnecessary valuables in your cabin safe. Finally, be sure to negotiate and settle on a fare before getting into any taxi.

Come experience the very pinnacle of luxury Caribbean vacations with Carnival Cruise Line. On the entertainment front, Playlist Productions takes tunes you know and presents them in song-and-dance, up-on-stage spectacular shows. And speaking of shows that transform… Hasbro, The Game Show turns childhood board game faves into large-scale competitive fun for the whole family. These cruises are selling out fast, get them while you can. Cozumel’s cuisine is dominated by Mexican, American and international cuisine. Fresh seafood is always a good choice, and so is the cochinita pibil— a slow-roasted, highly seasoned pork dish.

When sailing with Crystal Cruises from New Orleans, travelers can select from two itineraries that include port calls in Cozumel. The seven-day itinerary includes stops in Belize and Honduras, while the 14-day itinerary stops in Jamaica, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Key West, Florida, as well as Cozumel.

The complex features a cozy Wi-Fi cafe, Cafe Punta del Cielo, which sells coffees, sodas and delicious pastries. The mall is also home to about a dozen popular stores like Harley-Davidson and Swarovski, as well as a Hard Rock Cafe. An especially fun store to browse for Mexican handicrafts is Viva Mexico at the intersection of Avenida Melgar and Adolfo Rosado. A shopping village with some two-dozen souvenir shops, as well as another Cafe Punta del Cielo can also be found at the Costa Maya terminal. Only $117/pp for access to 20+ attractions in the New Orleans's area for 2 days ! Just present the pass at included attractions for admission & pay nothing at the gate.

Well worth the expense of arriving a day early and seeing a bit of the port city. Enjoy 2 stops during your 5-day break - Cozumel & Progreso (Merida), Mexico, if stunning beaches and turquoise waters are what you seek, this delightful vacation is just the ticket. Cozumel is one of Carnival\'s top destinations, and millions of folks cruise there every year. Cruise passengers can select one of four, seven-day itineraries on Royal Caribbean that depart from New Orleans and include a port call in Cozumel. Other ports of call include Grand Cayman, Honduras and Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico. All of these cruises take place on the Vision of the Seas, which features entertainment like game shows and dance lessons to upscale dining at Izumi for sushi and steak, and seafood at Chops Grille.

Rhine, Main, & Moselle Itineraries

amawaterways rhine river cruise

Tasting the regional wines, having a cup of Rüdesheimer coffee, and viewing the terraced vineyards were great, but our preferred activity was discovering Rüdesheim after dark. Make sure to get your hands on AmaWaterways’ Castle Cruiser Map and plan to be the first one up top, ready in time for when your boat pulls away from its moorings, past the magnificent castles. To ensure you don’t miss a single moment of this unparalleled experience, double-check with your cruise manager about the exact timing. If you’re looking for an unforgettable vacation, consider taking an ad extension tour of Switzerland and Austria.

amawaterways rhine river cruise

Vineyards of the Rhine & Moselle

One of the things to know about river cruising is that the river's water levels affect whether or not you can sail. Sometimes the water can be too high, making sailing impossible because the ship cannot pass under the low-clearance bridges along the route. Other times, the river’s water levels may be too low to sail because there is insufficient water beneath the boat and the riverbed. The rate of ascent or descent (depending on the direction your cruise is traveling) is approximately one foot per minute. The biggest lock we experienced during the Colors of Provence river cruise dropped us 75 feet (12m).

Captivating Rhine

The Netherlands, Germany, France, and Switzerland – with countless opportunities to admire stunning vistas steeped in history. Amsterdam is home to 165 canals, and a scenic canal cruise along these tree-lined waterways is a fantastic way to see the city’s centuries-old historical center and beautiful attractions. There’s so much to see and do in Amsterdam, so plan to spend several days here before or after your cruise. During our extended time in Amsterdam, we took a fabulous canal tour and visited the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the Floriade Expo, a world-renowned horticultural exhibition occurring once each decade. Some of the best moments of my AmaWaterways river cruise were spent on our ship, simply relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking scenery.

Night Cruise With 2-Nights Amsterdam Pre-Cruise And 2 Nights Lake Lucerne, 2 Nights Zurich Post-Cruise

Stay at recognized four and five-star hotels, plus enjoy convenient transfers between your hotel and ship, as well as a range of included amenities and excursions. Cruise through the Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland from Basel to Amsterdam, visiting iconic landmarks and enjoying the majestic landscapes along the Rhine River. Dramatic rivers yielding to fairytale towns and iconic cities all come alive as you discover four countries along the storied Rhine and Moselle. Grand Baroque palaces, whimsical gardens and a plethora of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, provide lovers of enchantment, artists and architectures, historians and connoisseurs of fine wine, beer and food with the best these regions offer. Take in the architecture and artistry of castles such as Brussels’ Gaasbeek and Ghent’s Castle of the Counts before gliding past more than 40 fairytale castles in the Rhine Gorge on one immersive sailing!

Night Best Of Holland & BelgiumDetails

During the cruise, the captain smartly adjusted our day's schedule in Tournon to avoid the lock workers' strike. If there is a challenge regarding the river levels, AmaWaterways will do everything possible to maintain the schedule and all the excursions guests expect to go on. But for a truly French experience in the culinary sense, we recommend booking some restaurant experiences on your own in addition to the excursions offered.

There is a nice variety of cruise excursions you can choose from that focus on French food and wine. Onboard, you’ll find French wine and some French-inspired food options here and there. The dining room on the ship is very nice, with booth seating and tables.

Night Captivating RhineDetails

Riquewihr is known for producing outstanding wines such as its exceptional Riesling. We were wonderfully accepted to board the Amaprima and sail along the captivating Rhine from Amsterdam on a 7-night route to Basel, Switzerland. These tour experiences are contrary to other luxury cruises such as Paul Gauguin Cruise to Bora Bora Pacific Islands. Travelers from all over the world flock to Europe for a breathtaking Rhine River Cruise, sailing along its length from Amsterdam to Basel Switzerland. This captivating journey is full of History cultural exploration and discovery, taking you through four countries.

Once defended by the Knights Templar, this excursion offers a glimpse into the castle’s past as you are guided through its storied halls during an evening tour illuminated by candlelight. While AmaWaterways offers some cheese onboard, we found it wasn’t as authentic as the cheese you can get on land. Excursion options range from food market tours to city walking tours, moderate hikes, wine tastings, and bike tours. Enjoy a spectacular al fresco dining experience in the main restaurant, or try an exclusive chef’s table for an unforgettable multi-course tasting menu.

Night Cruise With 3 Nights Lake Como Pre-Cruise

amawaterways rhine river cruise

The staff was hospitable and attentive, making sure we had a wonderful experience throughout our trip. Surrounded by lush vineyards, idyllic Riquewihr is one of the most beautiful towns in France. Straight out of a fairytale, Riquewihr is a medieval French village said to have inspired animators creating Belle’s hometown in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. This storybook village is filled with postcard-perfect half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, charming shops and cafés, and structures dating back to the 13th century. Riquewihr is known for producing outstanding wines, such as its exceptional riesling.

Guests can explore at their own speed, with most walking tours available at gentle, regular, and active paces. The tour options were excellent, and I often wished I could clone myself so I could experience multiple tours offered simultaneously. AmaWaterways invited me to be their guest to sail their 7-night Captivating Rhine itinerary from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland, on their newest ship, AmaLucia.

It was fantastic to spend time relaxing on board and enjoying the ship’s amenities, exceptional cuisine, personalized service, and vibrant onboard community. AmaLucia’s sun deck is another great place to watch the Rhine’s ever-changing landscapes. The sun deck offers loungers in both sun and shade, and a large seating area at the bow is equipped with comfortable couches, tables, and chairs perfect for taking in the panoramic scenic views. It was most affordable at grocery shops in the bigger cities where we could find them and packaged in nice bottles, good enough gift.

The award-winning, family owned and operated cruise line is celebrating its 20th anniversary and offers highly immersive river cruises on many of the world’s most scenic waterways, including the Rhine. You can sign up for a cruise sailing from Lyon to Avignon, north to south, or select the opposite direction from Avignon to Lyon, south to north. The only difference between them is the river cruise ship's direction and the order of the towns you visit; the itinerary and towns you stop at are the same. Standing on AmaLucia’s sun deck, I was mesmerized by the awe-inspiring scenery complete with picturesque towns, hillside vineyards, and 30 stunning castles and fortresses lining the river.

Contoured by vineyard-clad hills and castles from yesteryear, the legendary Rhine captivates. Fabled towns lost in time present you with the chance to taste local flavors—Rüdesheimer coffee and Kölsch beer—and to touch history up close with guided hikes and bike rides. From Amsterdam’s colorful canals to the majestic Swiss Alps, journey into the heart of the destinations you visit.

This floating luxury boutique hotel is filled with amenities, including a panoramic lounge, an expansive sun deck with a pool and walking track, complimentary bicycles, and daily wellness activities. All accommodations are spacious outside staterooms, and the majority have AmaWaterways’ signature twin balconies. AmaLucia also offers multiple connecting cabins as well as triple and quad accommodations, which are ideal for families and multigenerational groups. On the 7-night Medieval Treasures cruise, you can join a full-day tour to Rothenburg, a picturesque town straight out of a fairytale. Marvel at this medieval gem as you wander along its charming gingerbread house-style buildings and ancient architecture on a guided tour. Afterwards, enjoy leisure time to explore, perhaps indulging in a visit to the renowned Christmas shop, which brims with handmade ornaments.

Amsterdam is renowned for its captivating museum attractions such as the Anne Frank House, stunning canals, the vibrant flower market, and of course the notorious Red Light District. The AmaLucia staff did an excellent job dealing with food allergies, and they surprised their guests with unannounced treats like gelato parties and other delights during our cruise. Amawaterways’ Captivating Rhine itinerary takes cruisers through several exciting destinations including Cologne, Germany, which is known for its UNESCO-protected cathedral. I’m out of breath and panting, somewhere near Heidelberg, a historic German city located near the foothills of the Odenwald. My cycling group and I are pedaling toward Schwetzingen Palace, renowned for its Versailles-like gardens, about six miles away from our ship docked along the Rhine. As I pause in the middle of a cornfield, all my group mates are but a glimmer of silver hair in the distance.

Carnival Is Attracting a Shocking Number of New Customers, Can It Last? The Motley Fool

carnival christmas cruise 2023

Because seasonal decorations are not stored onboard, ships can only be in port while the decorations are loaded and set up. A few days ago I posted the schedule for when each Carnival ship will be decorated for Christmas. Continuing our countdown to holiday cruise season, here are the special onboard activities that will be happening on all Carnival ships through the month of December. Specific days, times, and locations (unless already noted on the schedule below) will be available on your daily Fun Times or via the HUB app once you board.

When Are Holiday Decorations Removed?

There are only so many potential customers, and only so many rooms on Carnival's cruise ships to accommodate them. At some point, 50% new-to-cruise customers growth just isn't sustainable. In fact, if the new-to-cruise guest count leveled off at fourth-quarter 2023's high rate for all of 2024, 2024 fourth-quarter growth in new-to-cruise guests would be zero on a percentage basis. Meanwhile, if there were a decline in the number, the growth rate in new-to-cruise customers would be negative, even though it would still be at a high rate. Carnival has been benefiting from a resurgence in demand for cruises following the effective industry shutdown during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

Youth and Family

Of special interest will be the holiday decorations for the brand new Carnival Celebration as she celebrates her first holiday season with the cruise line. The ship will reveal her Christmas decorations on Sunday, December 4, 2022, just one month after she welcomes guests for the first time. Furthermore, most cruise lines employ separate professionals to hang holiday decorations, as regular crew members already have full schedules with their assigned duties. This ensures the ships can be fully decorated in just the few hours between when one cruise ends and the next begins later the same day.

Shipboard Health and Safety

Just as holiday decorations must be installed while each ship is in port, the decorations will likewise be removed between cruises as guests are debarking and embarking. Each ship is decorated by professionals – not the onboard crew – and therefore the decoration dates vary based on when each ship is in port to allow decorations and staff to be brought onboard for the seasonal transformation. With a festive on-board atmosphere, elaborate decorations and an array of traditional cuisine, entertainment and activities, Carnival’s ‘Fun Ship’ holiday cruises are the ideal option for reconnecting with friends, families and loved ones.

Travel to some of the most picturesque destinations in the world, and make the most of more than 45 activities onboard the Carnival Luminosa or Carnival Luminosa. Christmas should always be a relaxing time, and with a Christmas cruise in 2023 you can take that relaxation to the next level. For more casual fare on Christmas Day, Carnival’s delicious eateries will still be available, including Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Pizza Pirate, Big Chicken, and more. Of course, guests can also indulge in the classic Carnival melting chocolate cake – always a top favorite on any sailing – as well as fresh tropical fruit for a lighter touch. Ice creams, sorbets, and the classic savory cheese plate are also available. Get stock recommendations, portfolio guidance, and more from The Motley Fool's premium services.

Carnival Ship Rescues 27 People Adrift at Sea in the Caribbean

You already know that Carnival cruises feature legendary fun for all, so coming together to enjoy a holiday at sea is a great way to make the occasion even more special. From home-style traditional holiday meals to themed seasonal activities — plus our all-star crew with you all the way — you’ll always find extra chances to make great memories with your family and friends aboard Carnival’s Funtastic Holiday Cruises. It isn’t just daily activities that will have a festive flair during the holiday sailing season. Carnival Cruise Line has prepared several special entertainment options that are only onboard at this time of year, making each one a wonderful gift to all guests. The exact dates of holiday sailings vary throughout the Carnival fleet, with the first ships – Carnival Conquest and Carnival Radiance – being festively decorated on November 24, 2023, the day after Thanksgiving.

Our Services

By December 4, the final three ships – Carnival Freedom, Carnival Splendor, and Carnival Sunshine – will have received their decorations, completing the seasonal decking out of Carnival cruise ships. Of course, the solemn and thoughtful aspects of the season aren’t to be forgotten, even at sea. All Carnival ships will feature a special Christmas service on the night of December 24 or December 25, depending on the sailing.

But that demand isn't just coming from existing cruisers -- there's a whole new contingent of people who are experiencing cruising for the very first time. As noted above, 3.5 million new-to-cruise guests came aboard a Carnival ship in 2023. Holiday cruises are popular getaways, and Carnival Cruise Line has announced the dates when its ships will be officially decorated for the festive season. The hours of different dining venues will vary, and passengers should check the Carnival Hub app during their cruise to see exact hours, preview menus, or make specialty dining reservations for all the holiday cruise deliciousness.

Have you been waiting for the right season to enjoy all of those holiday movies? Join your fellow cruise guests and settle in for all of those Christmas favorites. Plus, now’s your chance if you’ve always wanted to join in on an Ugly Sweater Contest.

Just as the initial decoration dates vary, so too do the dates when decorations are removed, but in general, all holiday decor is stowed away within the first week of January. Holiday cruises are much beloved traditions for many cruise passengers, and a wonderful way to enjoy the cheer of the season without the stress of cleaning, cooking, decorating, and other preparations. In addition to decorating each ship for Christmas, Carnival Cruise Line has a variety of holiday activities that will be presented onboard from late November through the New Year. “Christmas and the Holiday season is a wonderful time to sail and I hope you all get a chance to experience this special time on our ships,” said Heald. Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald has announced the holiday decoration dates for the entire Carnival fleet. Carnival holds a special, non-denominational Christmas service either December 24 or 25, depending on the cruise itinerary.

Other popular Holiday destinations are California and Baja Mexico (US West Coast) out of Long Beach, and Australia New Zealand (out of Sydney and Melbourne). Just like Christmas itself, a Christmas cruise in 2023 will be full of joy and a lot of merriment. Jump online today at Carnival to plan and book your Christmas cruise 2023 to remember.
